Frequently Asked Questions
Answering common questions about @Remote
Q1. How does @Remote connect to my devices?
The system uses a Remote Communication Gate (RC Gate), which can be embedded in a device, an external box, or a server-based software solution, depending on your business size. The RC Gate connects the networked devices to the secure Ricoh Data Center via a standard Internet connection.
Q2. Does @Remote also work for non-Ricoh printers?
While primarily designed for RICOH All-in-one Printers and Single Function printers, it can be used to communicate with non-Ricoh devices within the same network but will provide a reduced level of information. Please consult your Ricoh account manager for specific compatibility details.
Q3. What is the difference between @Remote Embedded and @Remote Connector NX?
@Remote Embedded is to directly connect a Ricoh device to the @Remote service. Whereas @Remote Connector NX is a server-based connector that allows you to centralise the management of a fleet of printing devices. This centralised fleet monitoring and management can be further enhanced with the combination of RICOH Streamline NX enabling even more efficient operations.
Q4. How can I order @Remote and create an account for the web portal?
@Remote is embedded into your Ricoh device. You don’t need to order it — your Ricoh service provider will guide you to enable it.
Q5. How does the automatic toner ordering work?
When a device detects that its toner is low, @Remote automatically generates a supply request and sends it to Ricoh. The required toner is then shipped to your location, ensuring you receive it before the current cartridge runs out.
Q6. How does @Remote handle meter readings?
@Remote automates the process by taking accurate meter counts from your networked devices at scheduled intervals and transmitting them securely to Ricoh. This eliminates the need for manual readings, ensuring accurate billing and reducing administrative burden.
Q7. Is @Remote secure? What data is collected?
Yes, security is a high priority. Communication between your devices, the RC Gate, and the Ricoh Data Center uses a secure HTTPS/SSL encrypted connection.
Data Collected: Information is limited to device status, usage, meter counts, maintenance alerts, and supply levels.
Data NOT Collected: @Remote never acquires any content from documents, document names, usernames, passwords, or scanned/printed data.
Q8. What are @Remote Green Reports?
Green Reports track and visualise the environmental performance of your Ricoh devices. This includes trends in CO2 savings, power usage, and paper consumption, helping your organisation meet sustainability goals and encouraging eco-friendly printing behaviours.
